How Dynasty Trade Values Are Calculated

Every value on this page comes from a fixed algorithmic formula, not a vote or a panel of experts. The formula runs on three measurable inputs: average draft position (ADP), age, and position. The same inputs always produce the same output, and values update automatically on a regular sync schedule rather than shifting with hype or a single hot week.

Draft picks work differently, since a pick has no ADP or age to draw from. Instead, every pick is priced through an original formula based on round, slot within the round, and years out. A 2027 first-round pick and a 2029 third-round pick land on the same overall value scale as any player, which is what lets you build a trade with any mix of players and picks.

Why Age Changes Everything in Dynasty

A redraft trade only cares about the next few months. A dynasty trade is pricing however many years you might actually keep a player. That difference is why age carries so much weight here. Running backs typically peak early and decline fast, often by the mid-to-late 20s. Quarterbacks tend to hold value much later, sometimes into their mid-30s. Two players putting up similar stats this season can carry very different dynasty values once age enters the picture.

1QB vs. Superflex: Pick the Right Format

Toggle between 1QB and Superflex before trusting any number here, especially one involving a quarterback. Superflex leagues let a team start two quarterbacks, which drives quarterback values up significantly compared to a standard 1QB league. Running back and receiver values shift far less between the two formats. Getting the format wrong is one of the most common ways a trade gets misjudged.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

• Trading on name recognition instead of role. A well-known player with a shrinking role is not automatically a good target.
• Ignoring pick value. An early first-round pick from a rebuilding team can be worth more than a rostered starter at some positions.
• Comparing values across the wrong format. A quarterback’s 1QB value and Superflex value can differ by thousands of points.
• Trading purely on need. Overpaying at a position of weakness can weaken a roster in ways that take years to fix.
